CERA Believes:
Every effort should be made to keep families
together.
Adoptees and natural parents should have access to all identifying
information
about each other when the adoptee reaches the age of majority.
Adoptees should have access to identifying information about the
natural parents
with the adoptive parent's permission before the age of majority.
Natural families and adoptive families should have the option for
continuing
contact at all times for the benefit of the adoptee.
Medical information should be available to all parties involved in
an adoption
at all times.
Every effort should be made to educate the public and mental health
profesionals
about the needs of those involved in adoption in order to make adoption
practices more humane.
Every effort should be made to change the laws in the United States
and
abroad so that the laws will be consistent with the above beliefs.
