Healing Weekends

butterfly  The above view is from the porch of the healing weekend.

A quiet country setting... on a private lake...

Where understanding, acceptance
and empowerment happen
for those involved in adoption!

Two days of healing with others who have been sexually abused
All particapants are either adoptees or
mothers who  lost children to adoption.

(and the lovable pussycats in residence)

*** You do not have to be reunited to attend

The focus of this weekend
is a carefully developed progression of exercises

which lead people to feel safe, enhance visualization
leading to inner child work to help one
gain control of and reduce the fear of the
events of the past that are so terrifying and to
find a way to come to some inner peace.
***  FYI... One healing weekend is the equivalent of
twenty one 45 minute therapy sessions

"Inner child work is essential.  It's the essence of growth as a whole person" - Cheryl Richardson

"One of the saddest things of all is that so many adoptees and moms are afraid to take the risk of healing which is necessary to pursue one's dreams"

"... as we lte our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.  As are liberated from our own fear our own presence automatically liberates others." - Nelson Mandela

"The bond between a mother and her child is naturally sacred. It is physical, psychological and spiritual. It is very resilient and very flexible. It can stretch very far - naturally. Any artificial or violent injury to this "stretch"  constitutes a serious psychic trauma to both  mother and child - for all eternity. This means that children need their mothers and mothers need their children - whether or not a  mother is married or unmarried." -  Mothers On Trial, The Battle For Children and Custody, by Phyllis Chesler, copyright 1986, 1987

"You will not grow if you sit in a beautiful flower garden, but you will grow if you are sick, in pain, experience losses and if you do not put your head in the sand, but take the pain and learn to accept it, not as a curse or punishment but as a gift to you with a very, very specific purpose." - Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

"Only eyes washed by tears can see clearly" - Louis Mann

"Guilt is the most useless of human emotions.. It is worrying today about something that happened yesterday and cannot be changed." - Anon

"Guilt is the most merciless disease of man.  It stains all the other areas of living.  It darkens all skies" - John D. MacDonald

`Not to have knowledge of what happened before you were born is to be condemned to live forever as a child.' -  Cicero (c. 106-43 BC)

"There are ex-husbands and ex-wives but there are no ex-moms, ex-dads or ex-children" - Anon

"The horrors of war, pale beside the loss of a mother" - Anna Freud  (and the loss of a child) - JS

"Adoption Loss is the only trauma in the world where the victims are expected by the whole of society to be grateful" - The Reverend Keith C. Griffith, MBE

"Emotional sickness is avoiding reality at any cost. Emotional health is facing reality at any cost." - M. Scott Peck
